![]() ![]() You can really see why Darcy wanted to have Bingley marry his sister. He even tells Lydia she can name the day of the ball he’s giving at Netherfield, just to make her happy knowing what a huge deal a teenage girl would find that. Bennett and shows her courtesy even though he must find her as annoying as everyone else does. When Jane gets sick, he not only makes sure she has everything she needs but also invites Elizabeth and makes sure to send a servant for her clothes so she has what she needs too, and he makes efforts to make sure Elizabeth isn’t left out of the conversation. Even though he’s not attracted to her, he still acknowledges her and treats her with respect. He dances with Charlotte Lucas at the first ball and is very friendly to her. ![]() ![]() There’s so many times when Bingley exemplifies this good character. ![]() Bingley makes me think of that quote “You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.” Being around someone who is unfailingly kind to everyone is just so much easier than someone whose quick perceptions make them a little more difficult to deal with. When I was younger I always thought Darcy was the ideal too, but the older I get the more I find myself appreciating Bingley. ![]()
